10,000 users migrated to new virtual environment in one of Daisy’s biggest undertakings.
A wet October weekend in Edinburgh saw Daisy Corporate Services complete its largest virtualised communications migration operation to date. Thanks to a virtual Mitel environment, The Scottish Government will be able to deploy new features and functionality quickly and increase the efficiency of everyday maintenance tasks.
Part of the Daisy Group of companies, Daisy Corporate Services is the UK’s largest independent provider of business communications, IT and cloud services, and has worked with long-term customer The Scottish Government to migrate more than 11,000 users from its existing Mitel platform to a new hosted data centre solution, thus creating a more robust and scalable infrastructure to provide a platform for the future.
This highly-demanding project replaces a footprint of more than 35 physical servers and involved around 12 weeks of design, preparation and testing of the new virtual platform. Complex considerations like The Scottish Government’s contact centre meant that the level of technical collaboration between Daisy, Mitel and The Scottish Government teams was intensive across a three-month period.
With critical administrative services hosted on the core communication platform, it was essential that the migration was carried out with minimum downtime and with dedicated ‘snagging’ teams in place the minor issues that were identified were resolved quickly and with no impact to the end users across The Scottish Government’s estate.
Graham Mitchell, Acting Head of Technical Services for The Scottish Government said:
“Considering the scale and complexity of the migration, the move to the virtual platform has been a huge success, thanks to the co-operation and dedication of all the teams involved. I was especially impressed by Daisy’s willingness and capability to help build a migration strategy that was completely informed by our business requirements.”
Rade Manojlović, Head of UC Architecture and Delivery at Daisy Corporate Services added:
“I would like to extend our appreciation for the amazing work and the endless hours that our technical staff have spent working on this project. The diligence, self-motivation, teamwork as well as dedication have been a source of inspiration for the rest of us and it goes without saying that it’s an absolute honour and a privilege for me to lead such a team.”
